How Did You Get into Cricut???

Today over at mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com, Erica has asked us how we got into Cricut and then to link to Inlinkz to enter to try and WIN the Cricut Circle Exclusive SOPHIE CARTRIDGE.....

How awesome is that!!!

So here is my story:

I first started my papercrafting journey with scrapbooking.  One day my husband and I were at a Home Show and there was a Creative Memories booth, and he said "You should try this!!".  Boy, I think he has now regretted that statement as he is the one that got me into my addiction with papercrafting...LOL!!!   So I first started with Creative Memories, and then moved on to Stampin Up, and then I saw an infomercial advertising this new crafting tool the "Cricut"!!  What was this wonderful machine??

After much hemming and hawing, my husband finally said I could buy it!!  I bought my first baby bug from QVC.  At first, I did not use it very much as I did not have the room nor the know how.  I tried using Design Studio, but it was kind of a hassle to have to hook it up to your computer.

Then I discover the Cricut Message Boards.  Wow, did I learn alot, just by looking at all the different projects.  By this time I had moved away from scrapbooking into card making.

A friend of mine was getting married and she bought her invitations off of the internet!!  Anyway, she was disappointed with how plain they looked so she asked me to "spruce" them up.  All I did was add some gems and flowers to them.  She was so happy with how much better they looked!!  I also made her little inserts with my Cricut, stating that the only gift they wanted was your presence!!    I also decorated her wedding favors.  She was so appreciative of what I had done for her (even though she paid for all the supplies!), she went out and bought me the Pink Cricut Expression!!!  Oh wow, was I surprised and shocked.  I told her this is way too much, I cannot accept this.
She happend to get a really good deal on it at Michaels, it was only $140 because the Pink Journey cartridge was missing from the package.  Anyway, she would not take no for an answer, so now I had the Expression!!  I ending giving my baby bug to my son's then girlfriend, which now I regret because she broke up with him!!

Anyway, so when they came out with the gypsy, I bought it on the night of the initial launch on HSN.  I never craft without my gypsy!!!  I absolutely love it and my Expression.

And now, over 100 cartridges later, it has become an addiction!!  I have my own craft room now, I started my blog last June and now I am lucky and proud to be on the Design Team over at My Cricut Craft Room.  I love spending time creating cards for friends and family!!

Thanks for visiting and make sure you stop by My Cricut Craft Room to share your story for a chance to win the Sophie Cartridge!!

My start was also with Creative Memories and scrapbooking. My DIL was way into it for a couple of years before she was able to talk me into it. Then she started selling CM and I jumped in. Our group would go online to find ideas for borders and would often buy 'premade' borders on Ebay. Neat little people and figures were being used on these borders and we inquired how they were making them and found out about the Cricut and the cartridges. I would say that within about a month, we all had the original Cricuts and never looked back! We were all very active on them and helped each other through mistakes and questions. Then, when the Expression came out, we all had one in very short order!

That is such a wonderful story! I LOVE my Cricut and won't ever give it up for anything! LOL! You asked on my blog about the paper size for the purse bag, I used a 12 X 24 solid for the purse and then 12 X 12's for the pattern pieces. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Hi Kathy, I used the Cricut 12 X 24 mat. I have never seen any other paper that big, but I did get the mat stack from Cricutmachine.com for only $4.95!
